Multi Media Card

Well, this was one of the images I coloured up on the weekend when I was trying to get my groove back. It is another unmounted Magenta that I bought at Pickle on Saturday. I stamped it in black versafine, thinking i would do a light wash with watercolours...then i decided not to do that and took a very pale colour of my copics to it for the first coat. I knew it wasn't a good idea when I started because copics and versafine aren't a match made in Heaven. So I switched to tombows. But, because I didn't stamp on watercolour paper, I knew this wouldn't make me happy, so I finished it in Prismacolor Pencils! Whew! In the end, I was happy with my creation, but don't even dare ask me what colours I used! Gotta go, Mark has a Dave (Matthews) DVD going in the other room and I need to get a peek!

Gettin' back in the groove!

Well, the kitchen reno is coming to a close...FINALLY...I've spent the last three weekends washing and putting stuff away and I'm down to one little 'junk' box. I don't have a designated junk drawer in the 'new' kitchen so I've been procrastinating finding a home for this stuff!

My fridge is still on backorder....grrrrrrrrrrr....and is not expected to deliver until July 6th! Our family of 4 (which includes two 18yr old boys) have been living out of an apartment size fridge in the laundry room for the last 6 weeks. Not pretty...I had a couple meltdowns this weekend trying to find room for groceries. You see, it's summer, and summer for my boys means GIANT freezies....so those GIANT freezies are infiltrating what little freezer space we currently have.

Enough of that, must change the subject to keep the anxiety at bay! It's been a crazy busy week for me. We saw our second of 4 scheduled Dave Matthews concerts Wednesday at Ontario Place in Toronto. Dave is HOT HOT HOT! We had better seats than we did in Michigan, but for the life of me, I couldn't get a good picture. I did get a good video though! Dave actually put down his guitar and grooved! OMG! The crowd was NUTS! Too much fun.

This past weekend was Relay for Life here in Chatham. It is a fundraising relay for Cancer. Teams of 10 or more enter and participate in a 12 hour overnight relay. A few years ago I was on a team, but now I volunteer at the event. Serving dinner and breakfast to the participants are my duties. Luminaries light the track all night and you can purchase a luminary for $5.00 to remember a loved one lost, or celebrate the victory of a survivor. It is a very emotional event and I get a chill just typing about it.

On to stamping news, which I'm sure is why you are here (that is, IF you are still here)! After taking a well deserved nap yesterday afternoon I pulled out one of my new stamps that I bought at Pickle and decided I needed to do a bit of colouring. This card is the fruit of my labour. The bird stamp is one of the new unmounted Magenta's that I bought at Pickle yesterday and all the frames are from a clear Technique Tuesday set. Those girls will be SHOCKED I'm sure that I have something to show for my purchase since I spent an hour or so complaining about how little stamping I have done over the last few weeks. I'm hoping that my groove is coming back!

You know summer is officially here when....

Dave Matthews Band starts touring!

Yup...that is where we were last night. At the DTE Music Theatre in Clarkston Michigan for our first of 4 Matthews concerts we will be attending this summer. We have seen him several times before and this one had to be by far the best performance I have ever seen! Awesome set list, great seats, and Dave was just bursting with energy.

Next week we will be off to Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre for the next performance then a long wait until August where we will be seeing back to back shows at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy Wisconsin.

Gotta love Dave!

I'm almost back in the swing

OMG....this kitchen reno has got me totally exhausted. It wasn't a small deal...we took out part of a wall, added a bathroom, removed an outside door and replaced it with a window, added a new outside door in a different location and relocated the door to the garage. My countertop should be installed tomorrow so hopefully I'll have running water by the end of the day and I won't have to be a pioneer woman anymore. Today I washed all the windows, walls, doors and floors in the kitchen and dining room...OMG...I can see my backyard again. Those windows got soooooooooo dirty! My fridge, kick-butt exhaust hood and microwave are on backorder so I still have to trott to the basement fridge, but I can live with that. The biggest downfall is that they won't put up the backsplash until they see the exhaust fan because they need to know where the electrical will go. I CANNOT wait for that kick butt exhaust fan....seared asparagus and blackened lambchops without alarming the fire department are in my future!

Okay...enough about the reno and on to the real reason why you are here. In the midst of the mess I managed to get my samples done for my upcoming class at Pickle (albiet, i had to make them on the coffee table!). Three classes were scheduled and they sold out by noon...so we scheduled a fourth which is also sold out. How exciting!

The first card is using techniques I learned when I took a class with "THE" Fred B. Mullett last summer! YES...FRED...he was on a class tour and those girls at Pickle managed to get him to come to our little city of Chatham.

The second card is a variation of this card I made for my hubby on our 20th anniversary. I cased the idea from a fab card I saw on Julia Stainton's blog. I hope I did her justice and will give her BIG BIG credit when I teach the class. Oh ya...see that little Westie there...I bought that when I was in Myrtle Beach. I've decided that I need a collection of little Westie's (not live ones of course...ONE is enough) and this is the second to my collection. Isn't she cute!
