Christmas card blitz continues and some new Bella's!

Before I get to my card of the day I want to enable you a bit, just a teeny tiny bit! Did you see that Emily just happened to 'feel like' realeasing a bella or 2, OR 3! Yup she did! And THEY ARE YUMMY....you can catch a glimpse of them on her blog here. I'll be getting them all, and you JUST MIGHT want to drop a hint to your loved one that they will make really nice stocking stuffers! (and less fattening than chocolate!)

Now...other stuff. This is an impression obsession stamp called Tall Trees that I picked up in Novi, Michigan this past summer. Another clean, contemporary and quick to colour image that needs no huge amount of shading to make it stand out. It is a large stamp, measuring almost 3x5" so I simply mounted it on a 5x7 card and added a nice contemporary greeting which you can find here at Stamping Bella. It is one of my fav's and I use it often.

No patterned paper because a) I coloured the image with no particular paper in mind then couldn't find anything to match, and, b) even the papers I found that did match in colour, were too busy for the image. So I just went to my bazzil stash and found some cardstock to match. I stamped it on Bella's BESTEST paper and coloured primarily with copics. To fuss it up I added some copic atyou spica glitter pens here and there and of course, if it is a circle, it must be an ornament and needs a good glop of Ranger Glossy Accents to give it some dimension. That's it! Pretty quick and easy and I have a couple more stamped off because I need FIVE more cards to finish this weekend to hit my goal of 45.

Tomorrow, it's Bellarific Friday and I have a cutie little card that is perfect if you give money as a gift, although it work well for anything, even a gift card, or forget that altogether and just send it as is! Again, I kept it clean, uncluttered and simple....I'm feeling a trend here!

something different

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends and readers! Are you all doped up on turkey yet? Me, I'm a little doped up on muscle relaxants because my poor back decided to remind me it was there and spasmed out on Saturday. It hasn't caused me problems for a few years so why it decided to pick the long weekend I'll never know!

Usually it is my lower back that gives out, but this time it is my shoulder and neck which has radiated into my right arm. YA, that arm! So I'm gonna keep the typing to a minimum.

Today, I'm gonna show you one of the cards I made for my mom's stash. It is an Impression Obsession stamp that I bought in Novi and is probably meant for Valentine's Day, but works equally well for anniversaries I think.


Kimabella's GORJUS cards inspired me to pull out my Tombow markers for this one. I used them a lot when I first started stamping but they have gone to the wayside now. Gosh I wish I had all the time in the world just to use everything I have in my arsenal!

I stamped this with versamark on watercolor paper and embossed with gold EP. I then coloured with the markers and blended it out a bit with a wet paintbrush. Clearly I'm a bit rusty with the tombows and forgot some of my lessons learned from the past which caused some of reds to bleed out. Oh well...I'll pretend it was intentional!

Did you know that Emily is gonna be at Scrapfest in Oshawa this weekend with a new release in tow and I was lucky enough to colour a couple of them up! I'll have sneak peeks for you Wednesday and Thursday, then back again on Friday with my Ketto challenge card. Wait till you see that one! It's gonna be another something different and I was fortunate enough to get it done just before the shoulder and arm gave out!

Before I go, this is the sympathy I got from my Bessie girl yesterday! I get all my pillows set up on the sofa and turn around to get the heating pad and in a split second she was on there clearly thinking I did this for her!

She's such a funny girl!

Homespun Wreath

I don't know why I'm calling it that, but this card just gives me a nice cosy Christmas feeling. I love wreaths....especially fall and winter ones. I picked up this unmounted Impression Obsession stamp at Pickle yesterday and thought it would pair nicely with the Basic Grey Archaic paper. I coloured the evergreen with my prismacolor pencils, but used copics on the holly. Added glitter to the berries and the gold ribbon is something I've had in my stash for a couple years. I also distressed the edge just slightly with Antique Linen distress ink.

Now, if i really wanted it to be homespun, I should have stitched on it!

That's it for today, gotta go cut paper for this week's class, work on my mom's Christmas cards and clean up my mess. It's amazing how much mess I can create for one card!

Impression Obsession Flower Quad

I know, you are probably thinking...isn't this realllly similar to the multi media card? Well kinda...but you see I got this one as a gift from Impression Obsession when I gave them the card last summer that now proudly sits on their sample board. So when I bought the magenta stamp I justified it by telling myself that I really didn't BUY the IO one, and the magenta is a reverse image so it's not really the same. Truth be told, I'm a total sucker for flowers, and things that are all nice and square just call my name.

I forced myself to use the pencils again to hone those skills and I'm glad I did. I just LOVE it! I'll be sending it to my mom and dad for their anniversary coming up in a couple weeks.

Another card for Mom

I don't sell cards, I should, but I just don't have the time to devote to it. However, I do make cards for my mother. She gives me a list every month of what she needs and I go to it. July is a pretty big month for her and this is one of the cards that went to her stash.

As promised, I used another 'never seen ink' stamp and coloured it up with my copics, added some glitter with my Spica markers and just a quick and simple mount. Generally, I don't do really fussy layouts. Mainly because I usally spend so much time colouring the image I don't have another hour (or two) to waste coming up with a layout.
