Happy Flowers!

I thought this card would be appropriate to post today since I spent all day yesterday in my yard planting my patio pots with beeeeutiful flowers! It is a lot of work, especially since I have soooooo many other things to get done around here, but the deck sure does look cozier with lots of flower pots. I also did a bit of weeding but there is still a ton more to do. I don't know what happened over the winter but it is a weed jungle out there!

This is another image that I colored in the car home from Memphis. I only completed the flowers and the pot and left the background until I knew what paper I was going to use. Basic Grey Lime Rickey was perfect so this morning I added the the blue haze around the flowers with my copics and sponged the yellow around the edge with VersaMagic Thatched Straw chalk ink.

Copic Tip: I got this one from Debbie Olson, she is my copic hero and most everything I learned about copic coloring I did by reading her blog and 'studying' her work. So quite a while back she posted a tip about using blue for shading and to make it easier she took a colorless blender and added about 5 or 6 drops of B00 to create a VERY light shade of that color. I jumped right on that and now whenever I shade with blue I use my custom B00 along with B000!

Now for those who are interested, I actually wrote down some of the colors I used on this image. Keep in mind, this is NOT a complete list...but it is a starting point. That is because I was in the car and likely picked up another color of something and did not write it down. Most likely a grey...why? Well, Copic tip #2...i often add depth with grey, I don't usually do that on flower petals but if you look closely at them you'll see in this case I did...no real reason, I guess I just felt like it. So, colors used were: E15, 35, Y11, YR21, 23, G40, YG17 and 67.

To finish it off I cut it out with my nesties, added a nice thick drop of Ranger Glossy Accents to the flower centers and Ranger Crackle Accents to the flower pot.

And there you have it...Happy Flowers!

Thanks for all the new copic tips Linda! Your coloring is astounding - I only wish that my images could look as good as yours. Having the "how toos" should increase my chances. Beautiful color combo and I like the gray addition to the flowers, it gives them depth.
